If so, please join us for May Movie Madness.  Admission is free for kids!  All movies are kid friendly and, for your convenience, a very kid friendly menu will be offered.  Movies are every Saturday at 5pm.  Bring a blanket, pillow, bean bag, and parent!

Yoga @ Amani!

 

 

 

Why not take Yoga in your own backyard?
Yoga Flow, a Hatha style Yoga stimulates the Body, Mind and Spirit. This practice is designed to strengthen your upper body, lower body and core muscles, increase flexibility and energy; diminish stress and create a sense of well-being and accomplishment. 

Class begins every Monday evening at 6:00 pm and lasts for one hour. Please bring a towel and a mat (a limited number of loaner mats will be available). The walk-in fee is $10 per class, or $50 in advance for the full six-week course.

Pilates

 

Pilates is a body conditioning routine that seeks to build flexibility, strength, endurance, and coordination without adding muscle bulk. In addition, pilates increases circulation and helps to sculpt the body and strengthen the body's "core" or "powerhouse" (torso). 

Classes will be offered every Tuesday and Thursday beginning July 15 and will last one hour from 5:15-6:15.  Please bring a mat and a towel.  The walk-in fee is $8 per class.  Please inquire on the day you attend for full course rates


Guinea West African Drum and Dance Ensemble

The Minority Network Exchange Presents: An Evening of Poetry and Short Story Reading. This event will be held at Amani International Coffeehouse and Cafe on Friday, September 28, 2007 from 6-9PM. Cost is $7 which includes appetizers to be served from 6:30-7:30PM. Items will be available for purchase. Meet 'n' Greet with SisterSong National Coordinator Loretta Ross & Screening of "No!"for Sexual Assault Awareness Month

Thursday, April 19th from 5:30pm - 9:30pm

This ground-breaking documentary, "No!", is a film about the reality of rape, other forms of sexual violence, and healing in African-American communities, through intimate testimonies from Black women victim/survivors, commentaries from acclaimed African-American scholars and community leaders, archival footage, spirited music, dance, and performance poetry. NO! also examines how rape is used as a weapon of homophobia. "No!" is the winner of both a juried award and an audience choice award at the 2006 San Diego Women Film Festival.

In addition to the showing of the film, we have the unique opportunity to meet and talk with Loretta Ross, who is featured in the film. Ms. Ross is the National Coordinator for SisterSong Women of Color Reproductive Health Collective, and was the first director of the D.C.
